LULU Software’s CEO Talks About Acquisition of Online PDF Services
On April 2, 2015, LULU Software, the makers of Soda PDF, announced they signed an agreement to acquire Online PDF Services. To better understand what this exciting new acquisition really means for the future of the company, we sat down with Eric Gareau, CEO of LULU, and asked him a few questions.
LULU Software acquired DOC2PDF in June 2013. What does the recent acquisition of Online PDF Services mean for the future of the company?
This acquisition demonstrates that we are moving further toward offering a full-range of SaaS [Software as a Service] services. We want to become the PDF and document-management solution of choice for all users, both online and offline. We want to integrate Online PDF Services into our existing range of free online services (Soda PDF Online, DOC2PDF, etc.) and to strengthen our position as a leading online PDF solution provider. The future of document management is online, and we want to stay ahead of the curve.
What was the reasoning behind this deal?
We had already established a partnership with Online PDF Services, and a unique opportunity to unite both companies presented itself. Our strong ties allowed us to move closer together, and the acquisition will give LULU a chance to increase traffic and expand our market internationally.
What kind of traffic will this generate on a monthly basis?
At this point, we still want to keep this confidential. However, by the end of this year, we are hoping to have more than 4 million visitors on all of our online properties on a monthly basis. It’s safe to say PDF Online Services will be a great addition to our existing online services.
When will Soda be operating the Online PDF Services?
We are hoping to start transitioning and operating the business sometime this summer. We will communicate the news once it is confirmed. Online PDF Services users shouldn’t expect any significant changes made to their trusty free online tools. On the contrary, we want to consolidate these online tools and our existing ones to be able to offer users a wider selection of services.
